now, you also may be wondering… “why ‘ablazeinadaze'”?
yesss. lemme tell you. “ablaze”: radiant with light, or emotion. akin to a fire, to our soul, to the spirit that is so deeply felt yet invisible to the eye. isn’t that what life is about, what makes it worth living – all the things we feel, beyond description?
“daze”: to overwhelm, to dazzle. truthfully, the exact dictionary description doesn’t quite align with how I interpret the word. daze. it rolls off the tongue, the hand, so beautifully. my adaptation of the word is when you… you’re mesmerized. the surreality of a fleeting moment, like when a snowflake gently, ever so slowly lands on your fingertip in the middle of wintertime. you’re freezing cold, yet toasty warm on the inside. or like when you’re blanketed by sunlight, in the summertime, and you feel the grass beneath your bare toes. the bubbling of laugher leaving your lungs, the sweet feeling of connection, and nervous excitement. inhaling, and exhaling, with your eyes closed, and then you open your lens only to be swept away by what’s around you. at the reality of being. I imagine if I were to travel to outer space, and were to find myself in a space suit, weightlessly floating in nothing but the very reins of the universe itself… I would be experiencing a new level of life, a new type of existence…. and I’d describe that as being “in a daze”.
this, precisely this indescribable entity that we find in being alive, in all dimensions, is what inspires and ignites me. being ablaze, in a daze. this is the way I live. when I forget, or when I lose focus, I remind myself to let my soul go ablaze, to feed the fire. to take care of the light inside me, and nurture it towards its brightest. To be in a daze by the most mundane things, because I am alive. to appreciate the little things – because the present is the best present.
